Coupling Selection
When selecting the coupling, we should take into account the characteristics of the motor, the characteristics of the machine, the operating and environmental conditions, as in the case of gearboxes. The safety factor chart used in gearbox selection can also be used in coupling selection.
Elastic Coupling Selection
If the elastic coupling is to be used at high speed (between the motor and the gear unit), it is recommended that the coupling size is selected according to the nominal power (kW) in the table in our catalog. In the table, the power to be transmitted by the coupling at 3000, 1500 and 1000 rpm is indicated. These values can be used without taking safety factor.
If the elastic coupling is to be used at low speed (between the gear unit and the machine), the coupling size is selected according to the nominal torque (N.m) in the table in our catalog. The operating torque of the system (motor power kW x 9550 / rpm) is calculated and multiplied by the recommended safety factor. The resulting torque (N.m) must be less than or equal to the nominal torque in the table.
If the physical dimensions and maximum bore diameters of the coupling size according to the torque calculation are appropriate, the coupling selection is complete.
Hydraulic Coupling Selection
The table in our catalogue shows the nominal power ratings (kW) of the hydraulic couplings. The power of the selected coupling must be equal to or greater than the power of the engine or the power required for the machine. At nominal power, the coupling can carry sudden loads rising up to 2.5 times this power.
The optimal speed for hydraulic couplings is 1500 rpm. The lower the speed, the less power the coupling can carry.
Gear Coupling Selection
Gear couplings are preferred when high torque is required to be transmitted in small volumes.
The gear coupling size selection is made according to the nominal torque (N.m) value in the table in our catalog. The quality of the material used in gear couplings significantly affects the torque that the coupling can transmitt. In our catalog, different torque values for C45 and 42CrMo4 material are indicated.
Overrunning Clutch Selection
Overrunning clutch size selection is made according to the nominal torque (N.m) value in the table in our catalog.
